Corus Ireland Receive IIP Accreditation

17 Mar 2010

Corus Service Centres in Ireland have successfully been awarded the Investors in People (IIP) accreditation. The decision to work towards achieving came out of a review of business strategy. “We felt that more could be done to link our people plans to our strategy implementation,” said Ireland director, Chris Conway.

“We recognised that if we were to continue to improve the service we provide to our customers our people would be fundamental in delivering the strategy.

“Other businesses across Ireland have shown the significant benefits that can be achieved through involvement with Investors in People and the improvement in employee engagement that flows from it.

“We have introduced new ideas to improve communication so that everyone is more aware of the business’s strategies, procedures and objectives.  This, in turn, helps to provide a better service to our customers,” he added.

During their appraisal of the Ireland business the assessors found numerous instances of good practice, including

  • Sound vision and business plan which is well communicated to all employees
  • Accessing external funding to provide better training
  • Embedding new management processes
  • Establishing 360 degree feedback for managers
  • Developing a bespoke Management Training Programme
  • Encouraging an innovation culture, through suggestion boxes and cross departmental groups
  • Providing face to face communication on a regular basis

“We now have to build on our successes and make sure we continue to meet the high standards that are expected of a company awarded the Investors in People accreditation,” said Chris.

The business employs a team of approximately 115 across four locations in the north and south of Ireland.
